Education Opportunities

ArtsCool

ArtsCool is our summer Arts Camp that offers different opportunities to learn theatre based on your interest.  The first half of the day includes classes in Scenic Design and Construction, Stage Make-up, Music for the Stage, Costume Design and Creation, Photography & Videography, and Acting.  The afternoon option is the performance--students learn how to audition, then audition for roles in our Junior production which is put together and performed for a ticketed audience at the end of the four weeks!   Your child can choose to do a half-day or a full-day for the complete experience!

Starpath

Starpath is our after-school program for kids in Pre-school through high school.  These classes meet once a week for a limited period of time.   Kids will learn acting fundamentals including stage basics, movement, vocalization, mime, improvisation, character development, and scene study.
We are looking to further develop Starpath into a program that runs both in the fall and the spring!  Future plans include technical theater training, performance classes for adults, and small-scale productions.

Jazz & Cabaret

Jazz & Cabaret is a program started in 1998 where we bring in professional musicians and performers from New York City to share their knowledge in our rainy little town.
We offer workshops for the duration of their two-week stay where singers can hone their performance skills.  Each workshop is suited to the type of song and/or performance the student would like to perform.  At the end of the two weeks, they then have the opportunity to perform in our two-night gala performance event.
Another aspect of Jazz & Cabaret is our student Jazz Choir.  Vocalist Anne Phillips, who has been with Jazz & Cabaret since its inception, visits schools and works with students 3rd grade and older teaching them the basics of Jazz singing and songs from the Great American Songbook.   These classes culminate in a Family Jazz & Cabaret Show on the Sunday after the gala performances where they can perform on the big stage with our professional musician and show off what they have learned!

Ketchikan Writes Workshops
